Man Accused of Sneaking Into Long Island Hospital, Stealing Cash in Scrubs

Police have arrested a man they say sneaked into a restricted area of a Long Island hospital, swiped a master key and ID, then stole valuables from several offices while wearing scrubs.

Sean Thomas, 24, was arrested Wednesday on burglary charges in connection with the thefts at St. Francis Hospital n Port Washington Boulevard in Flower Hill Sunday afternoon.

Police say that the suspect walked to the cardiac imaging area in the basement, which is closed on Sundays, and allegedly took a master key and ID card from a nurses station.

Then, authorities allege, he then entered the staff lounge where he changed into the scrubs. He went on to open several offices with the key and took an Amazon Kindle and cash.

Hospital staff noticed the items were missing on Tuesday and contacted security, who reviewed the surveillance video and notified police.

Thomas, who has no known address, was arrested on Wednesday. He's set to be arraigned Thursday.

Attorney information for the man wasn't immediately available.
