Robbers Force Into Long Island Home, Steal From Man Inside: Police

Police are looking for the two armed robbers who they say forced their way into a home on Long Island Monday night, then stole from the man living inside.

Authorities say that the suspects pushed their way into a back door at the home on Fargo Street in Baldwin at about 11 p.m. When they got inside, the 29-year-old man inside struggled to get the gun-toting assailants out of the home.

The two suspects were able to steal the man's wallet before running off to a car waiting outside. The vehicle then took off on Seaman Avenue.

The man who was injured had minor scuffs and bruises. He told NBC 4 New York he was OK after the terrifying ordeal.

His neighbor told NBC 4 New York she saw police arrive on scene not long after the robbery. She called the robbery a scary sign of the times in the typically quiet neighborhood, just a block from Baldwin High School.

"Growing up we never locked doors," she said. "We didn't have to. Now it's dangerous."

Anyone with information about the robbers should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
