Man Allegedly High on Drugs Runs Amok in Holland Tunnel Traffic, Tries to Get Into Cars: Police

A 42-year-old man allegedly high on drugs ran amok outside the Holland Tunnel in Jersey City earlier this week, weaving in and out of vehicles and trying to open the doors of several cars entering the tube, authorities said.

Port Authority police had to shut down traffic for about 15 minutes around 6 a.m. Tuesday as they attempted to take Keith Semiday, of Manhattan, into custody.

Semiday ran away from officers when they arrived; Port Authority police pursued him through stopped traffic at the tunnel entrance and eventually caught up with him. Police say Semiday flailed his arms as he was handcuffed.

He was evaluated by EMTs and taken to Hudson County Jail on charges of resisting arrest and being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance. Police did not specify which substance Semiday was allegedly on.

It wasn't immediately clear if Semiday had an attorney who could comment on the allegations.
