Toddler Went to Hoboken Supermarket Alone: Police

Police say the child apparently left his family's second floor apartment, crossed the street and walked a block to the store

Police in Hoboken say a 2-year-old child walked out of his family's apartment, crossed a street and was found wandering unsupervised in a nearby grocery store.

Sgt. Sam Williams tells The Jersey Journal that a store manager at the Hoboken A&P called police Wednesday night after seeing the unsupervised child wandering the store for several minutes without shoes and wearing only pajamas.

Police say the child apparently left his family's second floor apartment, crossed the street and walked a block to the store.

Cops located the boy's family after canvassing the area with the child's photo.

Police say the child's 23-year-old mother and grandmother were upset and in a state of confusion over the missing child.

Police and the Division of Youth and Family Services are investigating.
