Hidden Camera Found in Restaurant Bathroom

Police on Long Island have arrested a restaurant owner for allegedly installing a hidden surveillance camera in a ladies restroom.

Omar Romero, owner of the Poloros Restaurant in Mineola, was charged with two counts of unlawful surveillance, police said.

Romero installed a small hidden camera in the ceiling tile of the ladies restroom at his restaurant and had a video cable running from the camera to a monitor in his basement office, according to police.

The victims included waitresses who worked at the restaurant and at least one female patron who alerted police after noticing the camera, police said.

Romero is being arraigned Monday in Hempstead. Police did not know if Romero had a lawyer.
