Kiefer Sutherland's legal troubles for allegedly head-butting a fashion designer in a Manhattan nightclub are over.
Misdemeanor assault charges against the star of TV's "24'' are being dropped because the alleged victim refused to cooperate with prosecutors, said the Manhattan district attorney's spokeswoman.
Alicia Maxey Greene said late Tuesday her office declined to prosecute after an investigation that included speaking to the complaining witness, who was uncooperative.
Sutherland's attorneys declined to comment.
The star of the Fox TV show was charged May 7 after designer Jack McCollough said Sutherland head-butted him and broke his nose in a Manhattan nightclub.
Sutherland and McCollough issued a joint statement a few weeks later saying they had resolved their differences. Sutherland apologized to McCollough in the statement.
The brouhaha started when McCollough allegedly bumped into Sutherland's longtime bud, Brooke Shields, which made Kiefer, who had had a bit to drink, rather angry. It was yet another drunken legal hassle for Sutherland, who served 48 days in jail on a drunken driving charge in California last year.
