Water Main Break Shuts Down FDR Drive Exit in Manhattan: FDNY

A water main broke in Harlem late Sunday night, sending water rushing into the street and closing down exits on the FDR and Harlem River drives, the FDNY says.

The main broke just before midnight at East 127th Street and First Avenue, the fire department says. More than an inch water was seen flooding onto the streets just moments later.

The northbound exit at East 96th Street on the FDR drive was closed for about two hours, the Fire Department says. A southbound exit at East 127th Street was also closed on the Harlem River Drive.

Both exits have been reopened.
