ISIS Prompts Tighter Parade Security

Police are busy securing the Thanksgiving Day Parade route after a recent article in an ISIS magazine talked about carrying out an attack during the nationally televised event attended and watched by millions. The article mentioned an attack similar to the one in Nice, France, on July 14, when a terrorist drove a large truck through a crowd, killing more than 85 people and injuring hundreds more. The attack in Nice also inspired a Brooklyn father of three who was arrested by the FBI after talking about attacking Times Square, authorities say. Mohamed Rafik Naji, 37, faces charges of providing material support for terrorism, according to court documents and law enforcement officials. The Yemen-born Brooklyn resident, who also allegedly traveled to Yemen in 2015 in an attempt to join ISIS, was arrested Monday.

Trump Auditions Cabinet Prospects in NYC

Donald Trump held court from his perch high above Manhattan on Monday, receiving a line of former rivals, longtime allies and TV executives while overseeing a presidential transition that at times resembles a reality show like the one he once hosted. Trump met with nearly a dozen prospective hires, all of whom were paraded in front of the cameras set up in the Trump Tower lobby as they entered an elevator to see the president-elect. Former Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown, Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin, former Texas Governor Rick Perry and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich were just some of the people who met with Trump. Democratic Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, who resigned her post on the Democratic National Committee after endorsing Bernie Sanders over Hillary Clinton, also stopped by Trump Tower. Trump also released a video Monday laying out a plan for executive action during his first days in office.

Brazen Jewelry Heist Caught on Cam

Two thieves armed with a gun and a claw hammer stormed into a jewelry store on the Upper East Side this week and forced employees to the ground as they smashed displays and stole luxury watches in broad daylight. The brazen robbery was caught on video and police are hoping it will help lead to the robbers’ arrest. The thieves got away with five watches worth more than $300,000, police said.

Study Says Dementia Rates Dropping

Rates of Alzheimer's disease and other types of dementia appear to have fallen considerably since 2000, and better education may be partly responsible, researchers reported Monday. Better treatment for diabetes and cardiovascular disease may also be helping, the researchers reported in the Journal of the American Medical Association. Their study showed the rate of Alzheimer's disease and other dementias in adults aged 65 and up dropped to about 9 percent in 2012 from nearly 12 percent in 2000, continuing a decline noted in earlier research.

Kanye West Hospitalized

Kanye West was under observation at a Los Angeles area hospital late Monday after the remaining dates of his national tour were abruptly canceled, multiple authorities familiar with the case told NBC News. The admission followed a week of bizarre incidents during which the provocative rapper publicly railed against fellow music stars Beyoncé and Jay Z and retroactively endorsed President-elect Donald Trump. Meanwhile, Kim Kardashian West skipped an expected public appearance in New York City amid reports that her husband was hospitalized.
