Staten Islanders Head to Texas for Flood Relief

Volunteers with a Staten Island relief organization founded in the wake of Sandy are in Texas to help people devastated by the recent floods in the Lone Star State.

Half-Table Man founder Aiman Youssef and several other volunteers went to Wimberly, a small town between San Antonio and Austin, this week to aid in relief efforts following the flooding that has been blamed for at least 22 deaths across the state.

Youssef, who founded the organization after he lost his home to Sandy's flood waters and had to live in a tent on his property, has been in Wimberly since Saturday and has helped about 40 families struck by the storms. He has been driving house to house handing out, mold kits, cleaning supplies and dried food.

Other volunteers remained on Staten Island to help residents still recovering from Sandy and other recent floods.
