Greenwich Cabbie Slashed in Face by Passenger, Receives 45 Stitches

A Greenwich, Connecticut, cab driver had to get 45 stitches after a robber slashed him across the face during a ride last weekend, police say.

The 40-year-old driver told NBC 4 New York sister station Telemundo47 that he went to drop off a man at about 3:15 a.m. Saturday when the passenger put his arm around his neck and cut him, causing him to bleed profusely.

The driver, Moses Yuspec, radioed for help, and fellow cabbies rushed to the scene and contacted police, he said.

He was taken to Stamford Hospital where he was rushed into surgery.

The suspect, 26-year-old Miguel A. Reyes-Pantoja of Port Chester, was arrested at the scene and charged with robbery and assault, according to police.

He's being held on $500,00 bond and is scheduled to appear in court in Stamford on Feb. 23.
