Grape Street Crips Gang Member Admits Arranging Murder, Other Crimes: Prosecutors

A high-ranking street gang member has admitted setting up a murder, taking part in an attempted murder and conspiring to deal crack cocaine, federal prosecutors said.

Rashan Washington faces a 30-year prison term when he's sentenced Feb. 2. He pleaded guilty Friday to five counts, including murder and attempted murder as part of a racketeering conspiracy.

Washington, 30, was a member of the New Jersey set of the Grape Street Crips, prosecutors said.

Washington admitted that he purposely left a victim alone in a vehicle when he knew another gang member was going to shoot him in November 2013, prosecutors said. The victim died after being shot once in the head.

Washington also admitted guilt in an October 2013 shooting where gang members sought revenge for a colleague's slaying, prosecutors said.
