A man who was driving drunk struck with his grandchildren in the vehicle another car at a stop sign, police said.
Daniel Mitchell, 65, of Patchogue, was charged with driving while intoxicated, which is a felony because of a previous conviction, Suffolk County police said. He was also charged with Leandra's Law, which means driving while intoxicated with children in the vehicle.
Mitchell hit a Nissan that was stopped at a stop sign not far from his home on East Lakewood Street at 3 p.m. Friday, police said.
His grandsons, ages 11 and 9, were in the Ford Expedition with him, police said.
No one was injured.
