Grand Jury Mulls More Charges in Pharmacy Slayings

A grand jury is expected to convene as early as Monday to consider upgraded or additional charges against a New York couple arrested in a fatal pharmacy robbery.

David Laffer, of Medford, and his wife Melinda Brady were arrested three days after four people were gunned down inside the Haven Drugs pharmacy on June 19. He is accused of first-degree murder and resisting arrest; she is charged with robbery and obstruction.

Brady has said in a police complaint that while they plotted the robbery, killing was not part of the plan.

Prosecutors said last week that upgraded or additional charges were possible when the case is presented to a grand jury.okesman for the Suffolk County district attorney declined to comment, noting grand jury proceedings are held in secret.
