Gov. Christie Says “End of the Line” for New Train Tunnel

NBC New York has confirmed that Governor Christie will announce tomorrow that a new rail tunnel between New Jersey and Manhattan's Penn Station is dead.

Construction began a year ago on the nearly nine billion dollar project.

Christie killed it two and a half weeks ago--worried about huge cost overruns.

Federal officials won a reprieve, but then confirmed some of his fears on its potential cost.

Offers to work out alternative financing apparently are not enough for the Governor, and Wednesday he will announce the end to the tunnel project.
