‘Golden Girls' Cafe in Manhattan Closes After Less Than a Year

Apparently, there weren't enough friends.

Rue La Rue Cafe, the "Golden Girls"-themed restaurant in northern Manhattan, has closed down, the restaurant's operator said on Facebook Monday afternoon.

"We are going to process the lessons learned during the rehearsal period this last year and, hopefully, continue to provide this special experience to guests from around the world," operator Michael La Rue said in a statement.

La Rue was a close friend of Rue McClanahan, one of the stars of the beloved NBC sitcom, which ran for seven seasons from 1985 to 1992.

The cafe was on Broadway between 187th and 188th Streets in Washington Heights.
