A Manhattan man will spend 25 years to life in prison for killing his girlfriend.
District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance Jr. announced the sentence for Raul Barrera.

Sarah Coit was killed on April 10, 2011.

Police broke down the door of their Lower East Side apartment after getting 911 calls about screams.

Coit was in a pool of blood with about 30 stab wounds on her face and torso. Police say the 23-year-old victim was nearly decapitated. She also had a fractured skull.
