Upstate NY Girl Loses Arm and Leg in Boating Accident

An 8-year-old girl injured last Wednesday when she and her father were run over by a boat on Skaneateles Lake has lost an arm and a leg.

Onondaga County sheriff's deputies say Kaelynne Driscoll of Homer, New York, and her father were hurt when struck by the boat's propeller as they were being towed on an inner tube. The tube struck a wake and the two were ejected into the water.

The girl also suffered a traumatic head injury. Both she and her father remained hospitalized Friday in Syracuse.

Deputies say the accident happened when the driver of the boat circled back around and struck the two.

Sheriff's spokesman Jon Seeber says the investigation into the crash continues. The name of the boat's operator has not been released.
