A woman was struck and killed by a garbage truck in the Gramercy Park section of Manhattan Friday afternoon, police said.
The 58-year-old woman was walking her bicycle on the street, close to the curb, when she was struck by the truck at East 23rd Street and Park Avenue, police said. The privately owned garbage truck had pulled out of a parked position facing east when it hit the woman, who was going west.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. No criminality is suspected, police said.
