Funeral Set for Rookie NYPD Officer Killed in Van Crash

Funeral services are set in the Hudson Valley for the rookie NYPD officer killed in a crash on a Bronx highway on Sunday.

Calling hours for Michael Williams are from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the McHoul Funeral Home in Hopewell Junction in Dutchess County. His funeral begins 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church in nearby LaGrangeville.

Williams will be buried in Union Valley Cemetery in Mahopac in neighboring Putnam County.

Williams died early Sunday when the van he was riding in hit a concrete barrier on a Bronx expressway. Eight other officers being transported to their work assignments were injured.

The 25-year-old Williams graduated from a Poughkeepsie-area high school and worked as a part-time sheriff's deputy before joining the NYPD earlier this year.
