Funeral Set for Police Investigator's Death From 9/11 Related Illness

Funeral arrangements have been set for a 51-year-old New York state trooper who died from an illness stemming from his work at the World Trade Center following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Paul Stuewer died from an illness contracted while helping with the search and recovery efforts at the rubble site, state police confirmed.

Stuewer served in the state police for 26 years starting out as a trooper. He was later promoted to an investigator assigned to the New York City Drug Enforcement Task Force.

The funeral will be held next Wednesday morning at Saint Martin de Porres Church in Poughkeepsie.
