Police Issue All-Clear After Threatening Note in Bathroom Forces Movie Theater Evacuation

Authorities in Monmouth County have issued an all-clear after they evacuated a movie theater in Freehold Township Monday to investigate a threat from a note left inside a bathroom, officials say.

Monmouth County Police, Fire and EMS said on its Facebook page that there was a "law enforcement/emergency situation" in the area of AMC theater in Freehold and that the area was closed until further notice.

Authorities later said the threat was unfounded and no explosives were discovered inside the theater.

The investigation began when an employee at the theater discovered a note in the men's bathroom shortly before 5 p.m. stating that there were multiple bombs in the theater, and they were set to detonate at a specific time, according to Monmouth prosecutors,

Multiple law enforcement agencies responded and evacuated the theater as they investigated.

The theater was issued an all-clear shortly before 7 p.m.
