Zsa Zsa Gabor's Husband Declares War on New York Post

Frederic von Anhalt plans to sue the "dirt paper" for $10 million after it published a report claiming he planned to have Gabor plasticized

Zsa Zsa Gabor's husband Frederic von Anhalt lashed out against reports that he planned to have his wife plasticized after her death.

His angry, profanity-laced rant had one central theme: he's on the warpath against the New York Post.

The report, which he vehemently denied, originated in the German newspaper Bild. It was then cited in a New York Post article, which has a wire service copyright of AFP / Newscore.

According to the Post's report, von Anhalt planned to have a German anatomist carry out the procedure.

The Post quoted von Anhalt as saying, "My wife has always dreamed that her beauty would be immortal. I would like to show the plastinated body of Zsa Zsa Gabor in the context of a scene in one of her films."

Von Anhalt came out swinging Friday, denying the reports at a news conference outside his home on Friday.

"This is such a sick newspaper, this New York Post. They're going to have a lawsuit coming. I'm going to sue them for $10 million because the story they brought up this morning is a (total) lie," said von Anhalt.

"There are some sick reporters sitting there and have nothing else to do than pick on me," he said.
Gabor's health has been in jeopardy since the 93-year-old starlet broke her hip on July 17. She has since been in and out of the hospital.

The report possibly came from a conversation von Anhalt said he had with a German reporter. Von Anhalt says he told a reporter that Gabor disliked when the press published unflattering photos of her.

"My wife always said, 'I don't want to look like that. Even if I die one day, make sure I look good. Make sure I have my hair done. Make sure I have makeup and have my lipstick,'" von Anhalt said.

Von Anhalt and Gabor used to joke that famed actress Jennifer Jones had her hair and makeup done nightly at 8 p.m. in her later years.

"Because Jennifer Jones always was afraid if she is going to die one night, they were going to find her ugly in the morning," von Anhalt said. "We made jokes about it. Ya know, my wife said, 'But make sure I look good, too.'"

"That was all. That comes in the small talk when I talk to a reporter. It's just fun. It's a small talk," von Anhalt said.

"Printing a story like that is so sick. I don't know what kind of sick people are out there," he said.

Von Anhalt said a lawsuit against a tabloid has no chance; however, the Post was fair game.

"But the New York Post, I'm going to sue, because they're malicious, vicious guys," he said. "It's a dirt paper."

During Friday's news conference, Von Anhalt gave reporters an update on his ailing wife, saying her health has improved.

"Since three days, she's at home, and she's recovering. She's doing much better, day by day. Hopefully we're going to get out of bed very soon," he said.

A call to the New York Post was not immediately returned.
