Four Girls Hit by Car in Tenafly

Authorities say four young girls were injured when they were struck by a sport utility vehicle outside a northern New Jersey drug store.

The girls are being treated at Hackensack University Medical Center for injuries authorities described as moderate and not life-threatening. Their names have not been released.

Tenafly police Sgt. Dave Epstein said the SUV jumped a curb around 4:30 p.m. Friday and hit the girls, who were on the sidewalk outside a CVS store in Tenafly.

Witnesses say the driver — whose name was not released — appeared to lose control of the vehicle as she tried to back into a curbside parking space.

She was taken to Englewood Hospital and Medical Center for observation, and did not appear to be seriously injured.
