Fort Dix Plot Jury Wants Transcripts From Trial

The jurors considering the case of five men accused of plotting to attack soldiers on the Army's Fort Dix asked for transcripts of testimony on Saturday for the first time in days.

The jury appeared to be focusing on the time when suspect Serdar Tatar told a police officer and later an FBI agent that a man had asked him for a map of Fort Dix.

Prosecutors have said he was trying to smoke out an informant, while his defense lawyer says he was really concerned about a possible attack.

The jury of eight women and four men hadn't asked the court a question since Wednesday, the first day of deliberations, when they asked for transcripts of some testimony.

The five foreign-born Muslims on trial face charges including conspiracy to kill military personnel and attempted murder.

Government prosecutors claim the men were armed and preparing to attack the base in the spring of 2007. Defense lawyers say the men were manipulated by a government informant and weren't planning anything.

The jury, which is sequestered during deliberations, is hashing out the case through the weekend.
