Former Cop Accused of Abducting 3-Year-Old Daughter, Stabbing Wife Waives Extradition

A former New Jersey police officer accused of abducting his 3-year-old daughter after allegedly stabbing her mother in New York has waived extradition.

During a hearing in Paterson Thursday, 47-year-old Diomedes Valenzuela agreed to return to New York to face trial.

Valenzuela was arrested in Clifton on Tuesday as he fled with his daughter after police say he stabbed the girl's mother multiple times at an apartment in the Bronx.

New York police say she is hospitalized, but is expected to survive.

Valenzuela was an Irvington police officer until March 2002 when he was suspended after charges were filed against him in connection with his November 2001 arrest of a taxi driver.

He was found guilty of filing false reports and stripped of his badge.
