Stun Gun-Wielding Fake Flower Delivery Man Ties Up Long Island Man, Robs Him

A man pretending to be delivering flowers to a Long Island apartment shocked the resident with a stun gun when he opened the door, then hit him in the head with a vase before tying him up and robbing him, authorities say.

Police say the suspect rang the 34-year-old homeowner's doorbell in Great Neck Plaza Tuesday afternoon and attacked him when he answered, first shocking him with the Taser, then hitting him in the head with a vase. The victim fell to the floor and saw the suspect had what appeared to be a black handgun.

As the victim lay on the floor, the suspect bound his hands and feet and then broke open a safe he found in the hallway closet, police say. He grabbed an undetermined amount of money, diamond jewelry, a passport and assorted paperwork, then fled on foot.

The victim was taken to the hospital with facial fractures and head trauma.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to 1-800-244-TIPS.
