Flatbush Zombies Rapper Ticketed for Smoking Marijuana in Manhattan

A musician from the Brooklyn-based rap group Flatbush Zombies was cuffed and ticketed for smoking marijuana in Manhattan on Monday, police said.

Demetri Simms, 26, who goes by the stage name "Meechy Darko," was allegedly seen by officers smoking a lit marijuana joint near Spring and Mott streets at about 4:15 p.m.

Simms was arrested, charged with criminal possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of marijuana and given a desk appearance ticket, police said.

The Flatbush Zombies are an independent hip-hop group who recently released their debut album, "3001: A Laced Odyssey."

The group, backed by house band The Roots, performed the song "Bounce" on "The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon" on Friday.

A publicist for the group refused to comment.
