Feds Storm Bronx Rogue for Uploading “Wolverine” Video

A Bronx man accused of illegally uploading the movie "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" onto the Internet was arrested by the FBI Wednesday.

George Sanchez, was arrested "without incident" at his Bronx home, said FBI spokesman Richard Kolko. .

Sanchez was indicted in Los Angeles on Dec. 10 on the copyright infringement charges. If convicted, Sanchez, 47, could face a maximum three years in prison and a $250,000 fine, or twice the gross gain or gross loss attributable to the offense, whichever is greater.

Prosecutors said he uploaded the movie before the film was released.

When asked how was Sanchez able to obtain a copy of the film in advance, his defense lawyer Philip Weinstein said," I have no statement."

Sanchez was released on $50,000 bond.

Hollywood and media companies continue to press for increased crackdowns on video piracy, which costs the movie industry billions of dollars a year.
