Man Arrested in Fatal Long Island Stabbing: Police

Police arrested a 28-year-old man in a fatal stabbing of a man during a fight on a Long Island street.

Police arrested a 28-year-old man in a fatal stabbing of a man during a fight on a Long Island street. 

Michael Grusel, of Babylon, was arrested fleeing the scene, according to Suffolk police. An off-duty officer took him into custody, with help from other people nearby, until officers arrived. 

He was charged with first-degree manslaughter. 

A witness broke up a fight on Locust Avenue in Babylon around noon on Saturday between Grusel and the victim, James Moran, police said. Moran told the witness he had been stabbed.

Moran, 20, of Bay Shore, was pronounced dead at Samaritan Hospital Medical Center. 

A friend of Grusel, Anthony Herrera, said Grusel was being chased before the attack. Police are investigating claims of self-defense.
