FBI: Agents Recover 6 Underage Trafficking Victims in NJ

FBI officials say agents in New Jersey have recovered six underage victims of human trafficking and subsequently arrested two alleged pimps as part of a nationwide operation.

NJ.com reports Operation Cross Country has netted the FBI 153 individual arrests and led to the recovery of 149 children identified as human trafficking victims.

Special Agent Celeste Danzi, spokeswoman for the FBI's Newark office, says investigations were conducted in 135 U.S. cities, including Newark and Atlantic City.

Danzi says law enforcement officials performed sting operations in hotels, casinos, and other areas generally frequented by prostitutes and sex-traffickers.

The FBI hasn't released details regarding the arrests or the identities of those apprehended in New Jersey.

Officials say more than 4,800 children have been recovered through the FBI's Innocence Lost initiative.
