Explosive Materials Reported in New Jersey Apartment

Police responded Monday to a New Jersey apartment building where explosive materials were reported inside a home.

Union County Police Chief Daniel Vaniska said his bomb squad was on the scene for several hours at a ground floor apartment off Morris Avenue in Union Township.

The call came in Monday afternoon reporting "explosive materials" at the location, and apartments on both sides were evacuated, police said.

A source tells NBC 4 New York a man is in custody; the man is described as a former Marine who makes his own fireworks.
