A former police officer who hit two people with his pickup truck before fleeing the scene was sentenced to probation for tampering with physical evidence, prosecutors say.
Westchester County District Attorney announced Wednesday that Raymond Beckley, 26 and of Valhalla, was sentenced to five years "shock" probation starting with 90 days in Westchester County Jail for tampering with physical evidence in connection with a hit-and-run incident during which two pedestrians were seriously injured in White Plains.
Beckley pleaded guilty to tampering with physical evidence in November 2018.
Beckley was driving his pickup truck in White Plains around 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 13, 2016 when he allegedly hit a man and woman who were walking along Hale Avenue, the Westchester District Attorney’s office said.
After Beckley hit them, he allegedly sped off, leaving the pair bleeding in the street with head trauma and broken bones, the district attorney’s office said. The pair taken to the hospital for treatment after police arrived at the scene.
Beckley allegedly drove his truck out of the state later that month to keep police from finding it as they carried out their investigation, according to prosecutors.

Beckley is a former police officer who resigned his position as a New Rochelle Police Officer earlier on the day of the crash, and then, just hours after the crash on Nov. 14, 2016, began work as a police officer in the Town of New Castle. Beckley resigned from the New Castle Police Department in January 2017.
