Ex-NBA Player Facing Arraignment in Buffalo

A former NBA player and Syracuse University star, Damone Brown, is due in a Buffalo courtroom to face a money laundering charge that authorities say is connected to an alleged drug operation.

Brown was released by the NBA Development League following his arrest last month. The Reno Bighorns' starting forward was among more than 30 people charged with participating in a Buffalo drug operation.

Federal prosecutors say 29-year-old Brown leased a safe deposit box at Citizens Bank in Buffalo that was used by a drug kingpin to store proceeds.

A cell phone message left with Brown's attorney Wednesday was not immediately returned.

The Buffalo native was a Syracuse star before being drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers in the second round of the 2001 NBA draft.
