A Brooklyn man convicted of fatally shooting an aspiring rapper in a New Jersey home and setting the body on fire has been sentenced to life in prison.
Randy Manning must serve at least 65 years of the sentence imposed Friday before he becomes eligible for parole. The 33-year-old was convicted in March on numerous charges, including murder, arson, desecrating human remains and vehicle theft.
The charges stemmed from the August 2011 slaying of Rhian Stoute, a 33-year-old Brooklyn man who performed under the name Kampane.
Bergen County prosecutors said Manning shot Stoute inside an Englewood home, doused the body with gasoline and set it on fire. He later put the body in the victim's sport utility vehicle and abandoned it in Paramus.
