Elderly Man Put in Chokehold, Thrown to Ground in Robbery: NYPD

Police are looking for two men who placed a 79-year-old man in a chokehold and threw him to the ground before robbing him Tuesday in Brooklyn.

The victim was getting to his house near Albemarle Road and East 21st Street south of Prospect Park around 4:30 p.m. when the two men approached him from behind, the NYPD said.

One of the men grabbed the elderly man from behind in a chokehold and threw him to the ground while the other man ripped the victim’s pants off, police said.

The second suspect then allegedly took the victim’s cellphone wallet, which had $1,100 cash and credit cards in it.

The two suspects fled the scene, then used one of the victim’s credit cards to buy items at an Adidas store.

Police released surveillance photos of the two suspects.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
