A defenseless man was beaten repeatedly after refusing to hand over money to two men who targeted him on a Bronx sidewalk, police say.

The vicious attack in Castle Hill early Friday morning was captured on home surveillance video obtained by NBC 4 New York.

Moments before the attack, the two suspects got out of a white sedan on Gleason Avenue, approached the 79-year-old man and demanded money from him, according to police.

After talking with the victim, one of the attackers can be seen shaking his hand before punching him in the face just seconds later. The force of the blow causes the older man to fall to the ground, the video shows.

The attacker continues to punch and kick the man as he lies helpless on the sidewalk, putting his hands up and pleading with the men to leave him alone.

He tries to shuffle into the street to get away from the men, but his attacker follows and continues to kick him in the face over and over again.

The two suspects eventually take off when a couple of bystanders walk by. It's unclear if they got left with the man's money.

The victim can be seen hobbling away in an apparent daze. He was taken to Montefiore Medical Center with a fractured jaw, police said.

One witness, who didn't want to be named, said he didn't come to the man's aid because he was frightened by a recent bout of violence in the area.

The brutality of the beating has left neighbors in the area rattled.

“You can’t even walk down the street without being attacked,” Adam Algarin said. “And an old man too? What’s happening?”
