3 Rescued From East River After Boat Capsizes

The boat capsized in the East River near the Manhattan Bridge

Authorities rescued three people from the East River Saturday morning after a small boat capsized near the Manhattan bridge.

An NYPD boat was used to pull two of the people out of the water and an FDNY boat was used to remove the third person.

According to officials, one of the people refused medical treatment, while the other two were taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.

The boat was serving as a safety guide boat during the Liberty Challenge canoe race in the East River when it capsized around 8 a.m.
