Truck Hauling Dirt Flips Over, Dumps Pile of Muck on Manhattan Street and Sidewalk

The truck flipped at West End Avenue and 60th Street

A truck hauling a load of dirt overturned on Manhattan's west side Thursday, spilling the muck all over the sidewalk and street in front of a school, barely missing a pedestrian, a witness said.

The truck tipped at West End Avenue and 60th Street after it backed up over an uneven area of the road, the witness told NBC 4 New York.

Several streets were closed in the area as machinery and crews with shovels were brought in to clean up the spilled dirt.

The truck flung the dirt across the sidewalk and all the way up to the entryway of a school, where it was piled about knee-high against the door.
