Drunk Men With Knife, Gun Nabbed Near World Trade Center: Police

Port Authority police patrolling the World Trade Center area have arrested one man with a loaded pistol and another man with a gravity knife.

Agency spokesman Joe Pentangelo says the arrests were made at 4:37 a.m. Friday near Church and Liberty streets in Lower Manhattan.

Police say it appears the two suspects were intoxicated.

The men were getting into a taxi when a Port Authority officer noticed one had the gun sticking out of his waistband. The arrests were made without incident.

Police say the proximity to the Trade Center appears to be coincidental.

The investigation continues.
