Drug Suspect Bites Cop

Police say while they were trying to take a bite out of crime, a New Brunswick man tried to take a bite out of them.

It started when police in Franklin approached 27-year-old Mark Price on Thursday after receiving information that Price had cocaine in his possession.

When Price saw them, police say he put something in his mouth.

He refused an order to spit out the object, and bit an officer who tried to reach inside his mouth.

The bite drew blood, and the officer was treated for injured tendons and released from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.

Police tell Gannett New Jersey the object recovered was cocaine. Price was charged with cocaine possession with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school and resisting arrest.
