NYC Drug Dealer Hid Heroin in Baby Wipes: Prosecutor

New York City prosecutors say a drug-ring leader hid heroin in an innocent-looking package: a container of baby wipes.

Gustavo Solis pleaded not guilty Thursday to drug and conspiracy charges.

City Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget Brennan says Solis and some co-defendants helped transfer heroin and methamphetamine from wholesalers to street-level dealers.

Defense lawyer Kenneth Smith says Solis denies the allegations.

Investigators say they saw the 35-year-old Solis leave a Queens apartment building in July with a shopping bag from a baby-products store. Prosecutors say it held almost a pound of heroin, wrapped in plastic and nestled under some baby wipes in their container.

Prosecutors say the group also supplied three pounds of methamphetamine to a Pennsylvania man. Solis is among six people indicted.
