Police in Suffolk County are searching for the driver who fatally struck a pedestrian and then fled the scene early Sunday morning.
The hit-and-run crash happened in Lake Grove at about 1:40 a.m., according to Suffolk County Police Commissioner Richard Dormer.
The pedestrian was standing in the turning lane of Middle Country Road at Hawkins Avenue when he was hit, said Dormer.
The victim, described as a man between 30 and 40 years old and wearing a Luxor baseball hat and shorts, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash of have information about the identity of the victim is asked to call the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS.
