NY Driver Charged After Rear-Ending School Bus With 38 Kids

The driver of a car that slammed into the back of a school bus filled with high school students in central New York has been charged with texting and driving while impaired by drugs.

The Onondaga County Sheriff's Office says 28-year-old Christopher Cappuccilli of Camillus crashed his 2008 Chevy Malibu into the rear of a Liverpool Central School District bus that was stopped at a traffic light at 7:14 a.m. Friday.

Neither the bus driver nor any of the 38 students aboard the bus were reported injured.

Cappuccilli was unconscious when rescue personnel arrived and had to be extricated from the wreckage. He was hospitalized with injuries described by deputies as non-life-threatening.

Police had no information on a lawyer who could comment for Cappuccilli.
