Dozens Charged in International Drug Ring

U.S. authorities say they've taken down a violent international drug ring.

An indictment was unsealed Wednesday in federal court in Brooklyn. It charges 37 people in the United States and overseas with smuggling huge quantities of marijuana and other drugs from Mexico, Canada and elsewhere.

Authorities say the drugs were distributed in New York, California, Georgia, Colorado and Florida.

Prosecutors say the syndicate was comprised of "inter-related ethnic Albanian family clans with hundreds of associated members and workers.''

Several defendants were to appear in court Wednesday.
