Dozens Bound, Robbed, Forced to Strip in Long Island Club

Masked men robbed patrons at gunpoint

Fun and excitement turned to fear for dozens of people at a Long Island nightclub when five masked men walked in the door and robbed them at gunpoint.

Police said the masked men entered the Grand Café on Hempstead Avenue at about 12:15 a.m. Thursday.

Twenty-eight victims – 25 patrons and three employees – were in the club at the time. Half of them had their hands bound and the other half were forced to take off their clothes, police said. One victim was stunned with a Taser gun for not complying with the robbers’ demands.

The masked men stole cash, jewelry, clothing and cell phones. Police said all of the robbers were men wearing black ski masks, gloves and dark clothing. Four were armed with handguns, one with a machete.

The victim who was stunned did not require immediate medical assistance. No other injuries were reported.

No arrests have been made. Detectives ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
