Officials Probe Mysterious Fire That Killed 1 at Domino's Pizza

Police are investigating an early morning fire inside a Domino's Pizza that killed a 19-year-old man who was set to be hired at the restaurant that day.

Officials say the blaze erupted around 5 a.m. Wednesday at the Domino's on Route 9 in Dutchess County's Wappingers Falls.

The victim, Adam Justiniano, was one of three people inside the strip mall restaurant at the time, officials said. It was not open.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but authorities say it is not considered suspicious. Justiniano died of smoke inhalation.

The Poughkeepsie Journal reports that the town cited the restaurant last year for emergency and exit lighting, and ordered the owner to get rid of a deadbolt on the back door.

A Domino's spokesman, Tim McIntyre, told NBC 4 New York that everything was still under investigation.

"We are looking to the franchise owner to be able to clear much of this up as the investigation continues," he said.
