Divers searching a New York reservoir for the wreckage of a small airplane on Saturday found what appears to be a large piece of the fuselage, authorities said.
The divers attached a buoy to object at the bottom of the Titicus Reservoir in North Salem and would try to bring it to the surface on Sunday, said New York City Department of Environmental Protection spokesman Adam Bosch.
Other pieces of debris including what appears to be a wing tip of the 1971 Beechcraft Bonanza that disappeared Thursday were located in the same area, Bosch said.
The plane was owned by Val Horsa of South Salem, The Journal News reported.
Horsa's son, Eric, told the newspaper that his father and stepmother, Taew Horsa, were the only two people aboard the four-seat aircraft.
Eric Horsa said his father was an experienced pilot and the couple was headed home to Westchester County via Danbury, Connecticut, after a short vacation in Tunica, Mississippi.
Human remains as well as pieces of the plane including part of a seat were recovered Friday, Bosch said.
The DEP is involved because the reservoir is part of New York City's water supply system.
