“Dirty Dancing” Catskills Hotel Sans Hot Water After Fire

Hundreds of people going up to a hotel in the Catskills this weekend are going to find themselves without hot water.

Considered one of the largest hotels in the Borscht Belt, Kutshers Country Club is like a scene out of the classic "Dirty Dancing" – entertainment for families, dining, health and fitness and a golf course that stretches on for miles.

While all the hotel's outdoor amenities are still in action, guests might find the accommodations severely lacking when it comes to shower time. There's no hot water at the lodge, thanks to a massive blaze that engulfed the boiler room in a building next to the main hotel.

Fortunately, the Monticello hotel itself sustained no damage and no one was hurt. Units were still at the scene at 7 a.m. and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

The county fire department chief said the building was fully engulfed in the blaze and firefighters saw flames leaping through the roof when they arrived just after 3 a.m.

The hotel next door did not have to be evacuated.
