Dinkins Remains Hospitalized in Intensive Care

Former Mayor David Dinkins is still recovering from pneumonia at a New York City hospital.

The 88-year-old Dinkins remains in intensive care at New York Presbyterian Hospital, said Lynda Hamilton, a spokeswoman for the ex-mayor. He's getting "needed rest" and is "definitely sounding better with each day," she said.

He was hospitalized on the evening of Feb. 18.

Dinkins was treated for pneumonia at the same hospital in 2013.

He was the first black mayor of the nation's largest city. The Democrat served one term, from 1990 to 1993.
