Dina Lohan Arrested in NY for Suspected DWI: Police

Police say she was going 77 mph in a 55 mph zone on Long Island

Dina Lohan, mother of actress Lindsay Lohan, was arrested for suspected DWI after police pulled her over allegedly speeding on a Long Island highway.

Police said Lohan, 50, was driving a white BMW at 77 mph in a 55 mph zone Thursday night at about 11 p.m.

Officers found her to be intoxicated, according to state police. A breath test found her blood alcohol level was .2 percent, more than twice the legal limit, police said.

Police said Lohan claimed to police that she was injured while being arrested, and then when she was evaluated by paramedics, she recanted the claim.

She was ticketed for DWI and speeding and was released.

Neighbors in Lohan's tony North Merrick neighborhood fumed as media and police camped out in front of the troubled family's home.

"I wish they would move out of the neighborhood," said Marianne Berkey.

Berkey said children in the elementary school next door become caught up in the media circus that often follows an arrest or publicized domestic issue within the Lohan household.

"It angers me, because it backs up all the traffic," she said. "It's a safety issue for all the kids."

Lohan's attorney said his client is a "good person" who has "worked hard her entire life."

The lawyer, Mark Jay Heller, added that Lohan is a first-time offender with "absolutely no prior record" and that he was confident that "the judicial system will treate Dina Lohan with even-handed fairness."

Lohan is scheduled to face a judge later this month.
